RevLite – How It Works

There are many options to safely and successfully remove your tattoos, including the very latest in laser tattoo removal – the RevLite laser by ConBio. The Revlite is 60 % more effective than most other lasers and works twice as fast. Tattoos that typically take 10 to 12 treatments to remove can be removed in only 6 to 8 treatments. RevLite clears all colors and treats all skin types, leaving no residual “ghost” images.

The RevLite is the very first tattoo removal laser to offer use different wavelengths depending on the type and color of ink in the tattoo. The laser’s pulse rate is also significantly faster, allowing for faster and less painful treatments. The laser operates by breaking the ink in your tattoo down into tiny particles so that they can be absorbed by the body. The number of sessions required to remove a tattoo depends on the quality and depth of the tattoo application, the type and color of ink used, and the length of time between each treatment. The longer you wait between treatments the fewer treatments it will take. Note that India ink tattoos are the easiest to remove, along with any red and black ink. Yellow, green and blue are a bit more difficult to remove and may require more treatments sessions.

The Procedure

The procedure begins with the application of a topical anesthetic. The tattoo is then treated with the laser and a wavelength is chosen depending on the tattoo color. During the treatment, the skin will turn white over the treated tattoo area, and there may be some bleeding. After treatment, a healing ointment will be applied and the area will be bandaged. The skin typically heals within one week, and the ink will be slowly absorbed into the body over the next 4-8 weeks. The tattoo may continue to lighten for several months after treatment.

PicoSure: The First And Leading Choice For Comfortable and Convenient Tattoo Removal and Skin Revitalization for All Skin Tones – Including Treatments For Wrinkles, Acne Scars And Pigment Like Freckles, Sunspots And Discoloration

PicoSure is the first of a new generation of aesthetic lasers that don’t rely solely on heat to burn or melt away unwanted tattoo ink or melanin, the pigment that causes dark spots in your skin. Instead, PicoSure uses cutting edge physics and medical science to treat patients in a new way. PicoSure delivers energy so rapidly (in trillionths of a second) that tiny particles that make up pigment and tattoo ink vibrate and shatter, without burning surrounding tissue. Less heat means less tissue damage and discomfort.

PicoSure’s technology harnesses the body’s natural healing process to restore youthful skin in ways never before possible. Using proprietary Focus Lens Technology.

Skin Revitalization

Your body already has what it takes to help you look and feel younger; PicoSure will put it to work for you.

Recent discoveries have begun to reveal the secret language of the body, and how cells talk to each other to keep us healthy. Known as cell signaling, this biological communication occurs when cells are injured and release proteins, which are then detected by surrounding cells to trigger a healing response.

PicoSure’s PressureWave technology uses a unique wavelength of light (755nm) and a specialized lens to convert laser energy into gentle pressure. This pressure squeezes cells, activating the natural cell signaling processes that create new collagen and elastin without burning or damaging the skin.

Tattoo Removal

Lasers do not remove tattoos, your body does. Let PicoSure help with this natural process. During treatments with PicoSure the Pressure Wave technology is used to deliver ultra-short pulses of specialized energy to targeted ink particles. These pulses are so rapid that they cause and change in pressure that breaks ink apart into dust-like particles. These tiny particles are then absorbed by the lymphatic system, a critical part of your body’s immune system and eliminated naturally.

Frequently asked questions

Tattoo removal pricing varies based on the size and complexity of your tattoo. For very small tattoos, like a simple design on your ring finger, treatments start at $150 per session.

Larger pieces, such as full sleeves, can cost between $600-800 per session. Your total investment will depend on how many sessions are needed for complete removal.

Professional tattoos often require more sessions than amateur ones due to the consistency and depth of ink application. The choice between technologies like PicoSure and RevLite may also affect your total cost, as each offers different advantages in treatment efficiency.

PicoSure represents the cutting edge of a type of laser technology known as short-pulse lasers. These lasers are designed to “flash” incredibly quickly, in PicoSure’s case in trillionths of a second. This rapid flashing minimizes the amount of heat and creates a photomechanical effect that’s highly effective in removing tattoo ink and unwanted pigment.

As the leading picosecond laser, PicoSure is able to treat all colors of tattoo ink on patients of all skin-types, so it’s very likely that PicoSure could work for you! Plus, PicoSure has been shown to remove tattoos in fewer treatments so speak to your local provider to about a treatment plan that’s right for you.

PicoSure is the most versatile short-pulse laser in the world, allowing it to treat a wide variety of pigment conditions as well as acne scars and wrinkles. While other aesthetic products and lasers can treat similar conditions, PicoSure is the only way to achieve great results without the pain, redness and downtime.

PicoSure’s ultra-fast pulses and specialized wavelengths work together to minimize the amount of heat that is transferred. Less heat means less damage to surrounding skin and less risk of injury.

Most people experience very little discomfort and describe skin revitalization treatments as feeling like the snapping of a rubber band. Because tattoo removal treatments use more energy, patients may experience more discomfort, but your treatment provider should be able to offer numbing cream or other aids to minimize discomfort.

Procedure time depends on the size of the area to be treated, and 10 minutes is common for average sized tattoo and skin revitalization treatments.

The sun exposes the skin to harmful radiation. To protect itself, the body produces extra melanin, causing the skin to tan. Since PicoSure targets melanin to remove excess pigment, a heavy tan may interfere with treatment. After laser treatments for removal of tattoos and unwanted pigment, the skin is more vulnerable to sunlight so minimizing sun exposure and use of sunscreen of SPF30+ is recommended.

The number of PicoSure treatments for unwanted pigmentation will vary depending on the condition being treated and how each individual responds. For tattoo removal, the size, location and density of ink play important roles in how quickly clearance can be achieved, but 4-10 treatments* is common for modern tattoos. Your treatment provider will be able to evaluate and provide you with a personalized plan. The number of treatments for skin revitalization is largely dependent on the clinical condition being addressed but 2-5 treatments are common. Your treatment provider will be able to provide you with a personalized plan.

Tattoo removal and acne scar results are permanent. Skin revitalization treatment results are long lasting, but some pigment conditions can be recurrent. Some patients find that a PicoSure Focus treatment every six months can help prevent accumulation of pigment and slow the appearance of wrinkles.

PicoSure is designed with safety in mind and incidents of scarring are very rare. Tattoo removal treatments require more energy than skin revitalization and some patients may experience hypopigmentation (a lightening in skin color of the treated area) but this is usually temporary and normal skin is typically restored once healing is complete.

Recovery times are dependent on the condition being treated and each patient’s ability to heal. Typical treatment intervals are 2-6 weeks for pigmented lesions and 6-8 weeks for tattoo removal. Treatments for acne scars and wrinkles using the Focus lens array can be performed every 3-4 weeks. Your treatment provider will create a personalized treatment plan for you.

The timeline for complete tattoo removal requires patience and multiple treatment sessions. However, thanks to new and improved modern technologies, tattoo removal is more efficient than ever.

Depending on which tattoo removal method is used, complete removal can be accomplished within 4 – 10 sessions. Sessions are typically spaced 6-8 weeks apart to allow your skin to heal properly so that the ink is able to be adequately absorbed back into the body.

Beyond which method is used, the duration also depends largely on your tattoos. The quality and depth of the original tattoo application also impact how long it will take, as professional tattoos often penetrate more deeply and evenly than amateur ones.

The skin undergoes several changes throughout the tattoo removal process. During treatment, the area turns white as the laser interacts with the ink.

Some mild bleeding may occur, and the skin will appear red and slightly swollen immediately after the procedure. After treatment, your doctor will apply a healing ointment and bandage the area for protection.

Initial healing typically occurs within the first week. However, your skin may remain sensitive during this time. The significant changes will happen over the following weeks as your body’s immune system processes the fragmented ink particles.

The tattoo will continue to fade gradually, with visible progress occurring between sessions and continuing for several months after each treatment.

It’s important to avoid sun exposure and tanning for several weeks before treatment, as tanned skin can interfere with the removal process. Your provider at Golden State Dermatology might also recommend avoiding certain skincare products or medications that could increase sensitivity.

The area should be clean and free of makeup, creams, or lotions on treatment day.

While light activity is usually fine, it’s best to avoid strenuous exercise for a few days after each treatment. Sweating and friction can irritate the treated area and potentially interfere with healing.

Your provider at Golden State Dermatology will give you specific guidelines based on the location of your tattoo and your typical exercise routine.
