Microneedling
What is Microneedling
Microneedling, also referred to as Skin Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is an esthetic medical procedure that uses a tool to repeatedly puncture the skin with tiny, sterile needles (microneedling the skin) in order to induce endogenous production of cutaneous collagen.
The idea behind CIT is like many other non-surgical skin-tightening procedures, to create a controlled non-thermal injury under the skin’s surface triggering the body to respond through the formation of new tissue creation. The skin plumps and thickens in response to this stimulus resulting in a reduction in the appearance of scars and fine lines.
Microneedling helps to naturally promote the healing process of the skin, leaving your complexion smoother and younger looking. This procedure helps treat surgical and acne scars, as well as reduce the appearance of wrinkles, stretch marks, and large pores. Microneedling naturally promotes new collagen production through the needle pinhead.
Microneedling thousands of tiny ‘micro’ channels in the skin, which also allows for better absorption of topical products used in conjunction with any microneedling device.
The results of microneedling are usually noticeable after only one or two treatment. After 4 to 6 treatments, patients will begin to see significant results. With the proper skin care regimen, skin will continue to improve over 6 – 12 months.
