Noelle Wands, PA-C

Physician Assistant
Location(s): Carmel

Noelle Wands, PA-C, is a highly skilled dermatology physician assistant with a passion for delivering patient-centered care. With over seven years of experience in dermatology—including four years as a PA and four years as a medical assistant—Noelle has cultivated a deep understanding of both the clinical and procedural aspects of the field. She began her dermatology career as a medical assistant during college and continued in the role until she pursued her PA education.

Noelle’s first PA position in California included an intensive, year-long training program with multiple evaluations, equipping her with advanced knowledge and skills that are rare for newly graduated PAs. She credits this rigorous training and her mentors with shaping her approach to dermatology care. Additionally, Noelle has completed the Society for Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) Diplomate Fellowship, a prestigious credential that underscores her commitment to excellence in dermatology.

Noelle’s interest in healthcare was inspired by her personal experience of being diagnosed with Type One Diabetes at the age of four. Her care team, particularly her diabetes educator, inspired her to pursue a career in medicine. She aspires to provide the same compassionate and empowering care that she received as a young patient. Drawn to dermatology for its blend of patient care, minor procedures, and advanced surgical interventions, Noelle finds fulfillment in helping patients achieve healthier skin and improved confidence.

Her professional focus includes treating conditions like psoriasis vulgaris, atopic dermatitis, and dermatologic oncology. She approaches psoriasis care holistically, addressing not only physical symptoms with treatments like biologics but also the emotional and psychological impact of the condition. By fostering open communication and promoting lifestyle changes, she aims to enhance her patients’ overall well-being.

Noelle’s career accomplishments include earning the SDPA Diplomate Fellowship and completing a master’s thesis on the accuracy of electronic diagnostic and screening methods in dermatology. She is also passionate about research and aspires to contribute further to dermatologic studies.

Outside of work, Noelle enjoys hiking, cooking, watching stand-up comedy, reading fantasy novels, and blogging about skincare on her social media platform, “Study Your Skincare.” A lifelong learner, Noelle studied Latin for 15 years, continuing into her undergraduate studies, and is an avid Ancient Rome history buff who could talk about the subject all day. She grew up playing the viola and has a deep appreciation for classical music. Noelle is also passionate about languages and is currently learning both Japanese and German. Impressively, she was part of the youngest group of researchers to conduct studies at Argonne National Laboratory, where she utilized the advanced synchrotron/Advanced Photon Source at just 16 years old to study protein crystallography of Drosophila Miro GTPase.
