Hovik Ashchyan, MD
Dr. Hovik Ashchyan is a board-certified dermatologist and a fellowship trained Mohs micrographic surgeon. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UC Berkeley with a degree in molecular and cell biology. He then received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated at the top of his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.
After his internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, he completed his dermatology residency and served as Chief Resident at the University of California, San Francisco. He then moved to New York City to complete fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, one of the top cancer hospitals in the country. His fellowship included rigorous training in complex cutaneous oncology, reconstructive surgery, and cosmetic procedures.
Dr. Ashchyan has published numerous research articles and book chapters. He also has a special interest in medical education and teaching. He completed a medical education certificate program during medical school and also completed the Health Professions Education pathway program at UCSF during his residency. Through these programs, he honed his skills as a medical educator, teacher, and mentor.
Dr. Ashchyan enjoys hiking with his dog, playing tennis, painting, gardening, and cooking.
