Emily McKenzie, MD
Emily McKenzie, MD grew up on the Peninsula, and after over a decade of moving around the country for school and training, she excitedly returned to the Bay Area to continue her dermatological career in 2020. She was originally interested in medicine because it combined her love of science with her love of caring for other people. This interest has grown and shaped Dr. McKenzie over her life into the physician that she is today.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a minor in Economics from University of California, San Diego. She then moved across the country to Virginia to complete a Masters in Biomedical Science at Eastern Virginia Medical School prior to starting her medical studies at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.
In medical school she was drawn to the fascinating mix of diagnoses and treatment options available in dermatology. After completing her residency in dermatology at the University of Louisville, Dr. McKenzie joined the faculty as an assistant professor of dermatology at the University of Utah for three years. There she enjoyed both caring for a wide variety of patients while also educating the next generation of dermatologists.
Dr. McKenzie enjoys the many aspects of dermatology including complex medical skin diseases, skin cancers, surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. Her goal in providing care is to have an open discussion with patients about their concerns and treatment options in order to develop the right plan for each individual.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three young children. Along with her family, Dr. McKenzie loves exploring the beautiful natural spaces around the Bay Area, growing food in her garden, and cooking together.
